Composer Jean Sibelius Home Ainola is a unique part of Finland’s national cultural heritage in Järvenpää, on the shores of Lake Tuusula. A visit to Ainola, preserved in its original form, is a unique journey through time into the home culture, music and visual arts of the last century. Café Aulis serves customers during the museum´s opening hours.
Ainola was completed as the home of composer Jean and Aino Sibelius in Järvenpää in 1904. The Sibelius family lived in their villa year-round for over 60 years, the longest of any members of the Tuusulanjärvi artist community. While living in Ainola, Jean Sibelius composed the majority of his works.
In Ainola, which has been preserved in its original form, you can explore the Sibelius family's everyday life, as well as the home's art collections and architecture. The garden, which was important to Aino Sibelius, is still carefully maintained, and in the forest of Ainola you can hear the wind in the trees which were important to Jean Sibelius.
Welcome to Ainola, to the shores of Lake Tuusulanjärvi!
