The Tampere Art Museum presents themes from art history and phenomena of contemporary art in its temporary exhibitions. The museum's programme includes both Finnish and international art and artists. The highlight of the year is the nomination of the Young Artist of the Year with the prize exhibition.
The museum shop offers excellent gift ideas including products from local designers and products associated with the exhibitions.
The museum's collection includes works from the 17th century until the present day, main emphasis on Finnish art from the early 20th century with an overview of the local artist´s paintings. Many works of art can be seen in the public space of the Tampere city.
The museum is housed in an old public granary designed by C. L. Engel (1838) and is easily accessible by public transportation like the tram.
