The Martha Diamond exhibition at the Sara Hildén Art Museum is the artist’s first solo presentation in Europe.
For more than six decades, Martha Diamond (1944–2023) explored the relationship between abstraction and the urban landscape. The exhibition features more than 70 oil paintings from the mid-1970s to 2008 from the collection of the Martha Diamond Trust.
The New York-based artist’s paintings draw their energy from the rhythm of the city, light, and the experience of space. Moving between representation and abstraction, they transform urban views into colour, light, and movement.
The exhibition is organised in collaboration with the Martha Diamond Trust and Thaddaeus Ropac gallery (Salzburg, Paris, London, Milan, Seoul). It is the most extensive solo exhibition of the artist’s work to date.
