Degerby Igor museum
Furuborgintie 6,
10160 Degerby
The Degerby Igor museum tells stories of human interest about the lease period of Porkkala 1944-1956. This area, very close to Helsinki, was leased to the Soviet Union after WW2.
The Degerby Igor-museum started in 1997 and tells about what happened before, and during and after the lease time when the Sovietunion occupied Porkkala and used it as a marin base. This year we will tell how the base flopped and moved on to the other side af the Finnish gulf. We have transfered some of our exhibitions into digital form which enables us to present a wider scale than ever. The museum also offers a nice shop.
