Postal uniforms throughout the ages
Post Museum, Tampere
- 24.1.2025–31.8.2025
The exhibition presents the development of Postal uniforms from the time of Swedish rule to modern ergonomic and work-safe clothing.
The outfits of Post's employees have changed greatly over the centuries. During the Swedish rule, mail was mostly transported in everyday clothes, while during the Russian rule, uniforms emphasized official status.
Since the 1970s, workwear has become more practical and emphasizes the corporate image, with the development of materials and manufacturing methods.
Today, clothing is manufactured to support the users' ergonomics and to be suitable for various work tasks. Occupational safety, visibility and usability are taken into account based on user experiences.
