Markku Lepistö (Doctor of Music) is a well-known folk musician with a 40-year career behind him. In addition to solo projects, Lepistö has played music in several different contexts both in Finland and abroad. Lepistö has published six solo albums and several sheet music books.

The Kone Foundation awarded Markku Lepistö a grant for artistic work in 2023–2025. Part of this work will be carried out through the concert tour from Herttoniemi to Särestöniemi in cultural surroundings around Finland.
