Ateneum Club: Mikko Joensuu

Mikko Joensuu is an acclaimed singer-songwriter, whose latest album, Long Ark, was released in January 2024, after a seven-year hiatus. The 82-minute album includes ten songs that can be characterised as chamber folk, orchestrated for string and wind instruments. Joensuu, who accompanies himself on piano and guitar, is fond of epic expression, and his album has garnered praise outside Finland, too.

Mikko Joensuu’s 2015–2017 album trilogy Amen was a unique total work of art, earning the artist the prestigious Teosto Prize. The artist is also known as the singer of the band Joensuu 1685.
