Pori Art Museum

Pori Art Museum is closed due to renovation until January 2025.

The renovation does not mark the end of all activities at Pori Art Museum, however: we have planned some unexpected and completely new kind of exhibition collaborations for you. Check our exhibitions at the Poriginal Gallery and virtual exhibition The Views in Between.

In June, the first work of the Pori Art Museum's KORSI commission, Hanna Marno's Édouard Velvet Foot, will be completed. The sculpture is located on the riverbank near the art museum until autumn. In summer 2024 the Pori Art Museum will visit the premises of the Pori Art School, presenting on its exhibition the works of two distinguished international contemporary artists, Mike Kelley and Grace Ndiritu. Ndiritu will also visit Pori during the SuomiAreena week on June 25, 2024.

Pori Art Museum has been famous for its international contemporary art exhibitions for over four decades and has from the beginning focused on the new phenomena of the visual arts. It has a background in the tradition of modern art but is focused in its exhibitions and publications on contemporary art.

Pori Art Museum is situated in the centre of the town by the river Kokemäki, in the oldest part of the city of Pori. Exhibition spaces are unique in Finland. It resides in an old ware- and weighthouse originally built for the use of the customs in 1858–1860. Gallery of Pori Art Museum has acquired a reputation as a high profile gallery. The Poriginal Gallery on the south bank of the Kokemäenjoki river is housed in a former salt storage building. It is located near the art museum.
