India – from romanticism to realism
In the beginning of the 1970s yoga had just arrived in Finland, and the Beatles made India known, with its gurus and holy rivers. Martti Anttila, as many others, travelled to India, where he studied Indian culture for many years, and decide to become a photographer of India. He founded a photography gallery as his place of study, in his hometown of Oulu. The gallery called “Rantagalleria” was opened on the 10th of July in 1981.
Anttila has photographed and hiked in South Asia since 1983. The development method he uses involves producing an analogue silver gelatin print in a darkroom. Since the mid-1990s Anttila lives in Karjaa-Lohja.
Welcome to listen to stories about India, the twilight of the darkroom, and of course to discuss!
