The frigate Suomen Joutsen was assembled at Saint Nazaire in France 1902, being part of a series of sailingcargoships supported by the french state. Under the name Lannec, the ship transported wheat-, coal-, and nitratcargo mainly between Europe and North- and South America and Australia. In the 1920s the ship was sold to Germany
