Jump back in time to the 19th century at this atmospheric ironworks on the edge of the border. The nature and river rapids make for a truly amazing experience.
Möhkö ironworks was in operation during the period of 1838-1907. The exhibition "From lake to pig iron - the route of iron" tells about the production from lifting of ore to smelting of iron. The exhibition "Möhkö of forests" presents the work of loggers in Ilomantsi. The exhibition "Möhkö in war" tells about the events during the Second World War in the Möhkö village. The ironworks area is a place to visit with the whole family. The buildings, the exhibitions telling about the history and the park area transmit the atmosphere of the old times. The summer café Möhkö´s Manta has been placed in an old barge in the museum area.
