Church museum

The first church of Kurikka was built in the year 1672 and Kurikka was seperated into it's own municipality sermon room. In 1701 Kurikka became a chapel perish and Kurikka as a name got established. The congregation of Kurikka became independent via the emperors decision. The new and current church was finished in the year 1847.

Chaplain Y. S. Söderman assembled and organized the exhibition together with farmer Jaakko Ala-Lusa and church Guard August Järvinen in the year 1934 in the congregation's old "winter grave". The church museum was located in there until the 1960s, when the congregation donated the collection to Kurikka-Seura. With planning made by Hilkka Vilppula, the church museum was built upstairs in the museum.

The church museum was renovated in 2004. The rarest and most significant items are a colourful and beautiful pulpit with its roof from the end of the 61st century. and a stand for a font - marbled with blue paint - which has the first been mentioned in the church inventory catalogue in the year 1737. There is also a church officer's stand and sifra sign, for which candidates of confirmation donated the numbers in 1775, an altarpiece depicting the crucifixion of jesus, a beautiful 8-pronged bronze chandelier and a "vaivaispoika", a wooden statue which has been collecting money on the side of the old church and later on the wall of the rural municipality house for missionary work.
