The Regional Museum of Lapland is a regional responsibility museum that serves as an expert on Lapland's culture, history, architectural heritage, and nature. One of the main tasks of the Lapland Regional Museum is to collect, preserve, and research the cultural-historical and natural scientific material of Lapland. The museum's exhibitions are also an important part of the operations of both the museum and the Arktikum building. The permanent exhibition "Northern Ways" tells the story of life in Rovaniemi, Peräpohjola, and Upper Lapland from prehistory to the present day. Additionally, the museum produces special exhibitions on northern topics.

The museum is located in the Arktikum building in Rovaniemi, which also houses the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland, a library, and a gallery. At Arktikum, you will also find a restaurant, an impressive museum shop, and efficient meeting and conference services.
