RIISA, a museum with a soul. Thousands of years of byzanthine tradition meets karelian orthodox spirituality at this atmospheric museum.
The icons, liturgical vessels ornamented with gold and gemstones, magnificent vestments and gifts from the Russian imperial family on display in the RIISA museum tell us of the unique cultural heritage of the Orthodox Church. The exhibits that have been rescued from the wars also speak of fateful events and miraculous cases of survival. The present day is represented in examples of modern Christian pictorial art.
