Carefully furnished and decorated as an 18th-century merchant family home, the Lassander House eminates the ambiance of bygone days. Here, visitors can learn about the history of trade and seafaring, as well as the 18th-century Ostrobothnian bourgeois culture.
The house was originally built in 1748 on today’s Kustaa Aadolfinkatu street, and it is one of the oldest surviving houses in Kokkola. It was later moved to the Museum Quarter. Two merchant families, Lassander and Ahla, have occupied the house.
The Museum Quarter is a cosy, home-like area encompassing many places to see. Cafés and various events animate the Quarter during the summer. There is a passageway from the Museum Quarter to the charming Old Wooden Town Neristan.
