A Favourable place
Lahti Historical Museum, Lahti
- 6.6.2024–
The exhibition “A Favourable Place” delves into the everyday history of Päijät-Häme from the post-ice age era to the present day.
The exhibition script was written by Mikko-Olavi Seppälä, a docent in theater history at the University of Helsinki, and its content has been compiled with the input of various researchers. New research has also been conducted for the exhibition, providing a fresh perspective on the history of Päijät-Häme. The “A Favourable place” exhibition, located on the first floor, features an immersive exhibition within a historical manor setting, offering stories and peculiar experiences for the whole family including history enthusiasts. As part of the exhibition, there are small exhibitions based on discussion events held by Muistamo, including the Mainiemi sawmill community and a replica of an ancient costume from Kirkk’ailanmäki based on research.
As background research for the exhibition, articles have been commissioned from researchers in various fields. These articles provide insights into the life of Lahti and Päijät-Häme from the perspectives of geology, archaeology, historical research, and sociology. The collection of articles was published in 2022.
