In the rooms of Sibelius' birthplace, decorated in the 1860s and 80s, you can discover the childhood and youth of national composer Jean Sibelius in Hämeenlinna.
Finnish national composer Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) was born and lived the first 20 years of his life in Hämeenlinna.
In Sibelius' birthplace you can discover the life of young Janne. The museum is decorated in the style of the 1860s and 1880s. It contains furniture, documents, photographs and small objects that tell the story of Jean Sibelius's boyhood and Hämeenlinna at the time. The building was completed in 1834 and has served as a museum since the 1960s. The house underwent its last major restoration in 2007.
