Everyone's Birthdays: Anna Sailamaa x Aine Art Museum

The Everyone's Birthdays program series of the Aine Art Museum will bring a zine and comic workshop open to everyone to the mirror hall of Haparanda railway station from 7.7. to 10.7.2026, led by artist and cartoonist Anna Sailamaa from Tornio.

The workshop will introduce you to the creation of a zine through comics, text, collage and drawing. Participants can make their own zine in a relaxed and experimental atmosphere. No previous experience is required.

The open non-stop workshops will be held:

Tue 7.7. at 13–16 (time in Finland)

Thu 9.7. at 13–16 (time in Finland)

Fri 10.7. at 13–15 (time in Finland)

The workshops are suitable for all ages. Children under 10 years of age can participate accompanied by an adult. No pre-registration, free admission.

On Wednesday July 8th from 16–19., an intensive workshop will be organized, where we will delve into making an autobiographical zine in a smaller group under the guidance of Anna Sailamaa.

Pre-registration for the Wednesday evening workshop is required by Monday July 6th, 2026. The workshop is free of charge and includes a small snack. Registration is requested by email to aine.taidemuseo@tornio.fi.

On Friday July 10th from 16., an artist meeting will be organized, where Anna Sailamaa will talk about her work and comics. The event will be held in Finnish and Swedish. Free admission, refreshments.

Haparanda Railway Station is located at Järnvägsgatan, 953 34 Haparanda, Sweden. The Mirror Hall is located on the second floor of the building, near the waiting hall and departure platforms.

Anna Sailamaa (b. 1979, Tornio) is a cartoonist and teacher working in Helsinki. She has published the cartoon albums Ollaan nätisti (2008), Paimen (2011) and Mehiläispesä (2015). Sailamaa has studied at the University of Art and Design and the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki. She won the main prize of the Kemi Comic Festival comic short story competition in 2007 and the international Fumetto Comic Competition in Switzerland in 2009.

Everyone's Birthdays invites everyone to celebrate the anniversary of the Aine Art Museum together. Everyone's Birthdays is part of the Oulu2026 – European Capital of Culture program.
