The Folk Kindergarten – Helsinginkatu 3–5
Kindergarten Museum, Helsinki
- 1.9.2009–31.12.2030
Come and build with blocks while discovering what kindergartens were like in the past!

In the Kindergarten Museum’s permanent exhibition "Folk Kindergarten – Helsinginkatu 3–5", visitors can follow a working-class child’s journey from home to kindergarten and experience daily life at Ebeneser’s kindergarten in a hands-on way, while also exploring the historical environment of Sörnäs.
Step into the lives of children in the 20th century by trying on the work coats or aprons that were used in kindergartens. What was life like back then? What activities did children do in kindergarten? What are Froebel blocks? What small tasks did children perform? What did the headmistress’s room look like? At the Kindergarten Museum, you can find answers to these and many other intriguing questions.
Here, play is encouraged!
