The 50th-anniversary exhibition of Hyvinkää-based artist Mika Karhu, DFA, entitled 'Forgotten III', features dark-hued portraits and installations in the museum’s Main Hall.
Karhu’s work often touches on themes that are challenging to view or experience. His topics centre on broad themes of our society: its problems, forgotten members, or painful traumas from the past. Instead of offering entertainment for the middle classes, Karhu wants to draw our attention to matters of social equality and justice through his work.
His art often depicts tragic events and forgotten human fates. Studies delving into history and addressing unacknowledged elements through artistic content is a method of bringing repressed and forgotten things to light.
