Meet the Artist: Olivia Viitakangas

Olivia Viitakangas, an artist participating in the Flashback group exhibition, will be holding a Meet the artist event in the entrance lobby of the Seipark parking garage, located in Seinäjoki’s Central Square, on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Come experience Olivia Viitakangas and Rafael Denisov’s work Seipark Easy Listening and discuss the piece and its background with the artist. The event is part of Kalevan Navetta’s Afterwork Art program, and admission is free for everyone. Welcome!

In addition, artists Riikka Gröndahl and Aeon Lux, who are participating in the same exhibition, will be holding a Meet the artist event at the Vintti exhibition space in Kunsthalle Seinäjoki from 5:30–6:30 p.m. Admission to this event is also free! Flashback celebrates the 10th anniversary of Seinäjoki’s Summer Artist program. The six artists featured in the exhibition have previously served as Summer Artists from 2018 to 2023. The Flashback exhibition showcases their new work, which reflects on their past years as Summer Artists but, above all, looks toward the future. A diverse range of art forms is on display, from photography to sculpture.

Olivia Viitakangas
Olivia Viitakangas (b. 1999) was the Seinäjoki Summer Artist in 2022. For the Flashback exhibition, Viitakangas invited sound designer and musician Rafael Denisov (b. 2001) to collaborate with her; Denisov currently creates computer-generated music and is studying in the sound design program at the Theater Academy.
Olivia approaches the site-specific and sensory body through installation-based practice. Viitakangas is interested in presenting art in various locations within the living environment. In her works, she uses objects and materials selected in relation to the context of the site, its sensory qualities, and material structures. Viitakangas is currently studying in the Sculpture Department at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki.

Instructions for arrival
Seinäjoki Central Square is located at Kalevankatu 7, 60100 Seinäjoki. The entrance lobby of the Seipark parking garage is located on Central Square next to the landmark, Risto Pentikäinen’s Horsma sculpture. The lobby can be accessed on foot from ground level as well as from the underground parking garage.
