Opening Day: Dialogues – Raimo Reinikainen & Tuomo Blomqvist

Welcome on Saturday, 18 April, to the opening day of Dialogues – Raimo Reinikainen & Tuomo Blomqvist! We celebrate the opening of the third and final exhibition in the "Vuoropuheluja" (Dialogues) series in the Gallery, with free admission throughout the day from 11 am to 6 pm.

The exhibiting artist duo will be interviewed by the museum’s volunteers in an artist talk at 2 pm. The event is in Finnish.

Raimo Reinikainen (b. 1939) is a painter, printmaker, and critic whose work often centers on nature. Rather than depicting it through traditional landscape painting, he seeks to convey the moods and experiences evoked by nature.

Tuomo Blomqvist (b. 1955) is a visual artist who explores the boundaries between nature and culture in his work. His pieces emphasize different kinds of structures—both human-made and shaped by nature—as well as their wear and decay. Craft plays an important role in his practice, and he sees understanding through making as an essential part of the artistic process.

Vuoropuheluja (Dialogues)
The Gallery’s spring exhibition series presents two contemporary artists from Central Finland at a time. The exhibitions offer an opportunity to view the artists’ working methods and artistic thinking side by side, creating new perspectives on both the diversity of Central Finnish contemporary art and the works of established artists. During the series, museum volunteers host artist talks that provide insight into the artists’ practices and career paths.
