A FROZEN STREET CHANGED MY WALK

Museum of Technology, Helsinki

  • 10.4.2026 (18.00-19.00)

“A frozen street changed my walk” is a multidisciplinary performance that takes the audience through shifting landscapes of memory. The piece unfolds in fragments of recollections. Of moments awakened by a scent, color, or the rhythm of footsteps.

Crossing borders from Syria to Finland was not just a geographical transition; moving to a country where snow covers the ground for nearly five months per year slowed my pace, altered my balance, and gradually changed the rhythm of my body. This physical shift began to reshape how I move and dance.

This personal experience inspired an exploration of identity, inner monologue, and the way in which cultural heritage lives within the body. It raises a question: What impact do climate, landscape, and living experiences have on our movement?

Through an interactive installation, self-portraits, and a physical theatre performance, the audience is invited into a sentimental journey of flashbacks between memories and streets, where every step carries traces of another place.
