Kaarina Kaikkonen Growing the Sun

The summer exhibition opening at the Aine Art Museum on April 25, 2025, presents the work of sculptor Kaarina Kaikkonen for the first time in a solo exhibition in Northern Finland.
The internationally beloved artist is known for her monumental textile installations and sculptures.

Kaarina Kaikkonen’s exhibition Growing the Sun showcases a wide selection of her work at the Aine Art Museum in Tornio.
Kaikkonen’s pieces often explore human emotions and experiences through everyday objects and textiles.

Kaarina Kaikkonen (b. 1952, Iisalmi, Finland) is renowned for her monumental textile installations and sculptures.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in the United States, Cuba, Canada, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Kaikkonen’s pieces are part of many significant collections, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, the Helsinki City Museum, and the Espoo Museum of Modern Art EMMA.

Kaarina Kaikkonen is an honorary member of the Association of Finnish Sculptors.
In 2012, she was appointed Artist Professor, and in 2022 she was awarded the Pro Finlandia Medal.
