The Forest Whispers

This unique jewelry exhibition brings Estonian jewelry to Finland for the first time.

The exhibition of contemporary Estonian jewelry "The Forest Whispers" tells about the relationship with nature, the forest, and its significance for Estonians. The jewelry pieces explore the relationship with the forest and nature from different perspectives: mythology, forest connection, and the use of natural materials or ideas.

This unique jewelry exhibition brings Estonian jewelry to Finland for the first time. The exhibition features works from about 50 jewelry artists, a forest project by students from the Academy of Arts, and works by artists from Roman Tavast. The exhibition is curated by PhD Kärt Summatavet.

The forest is a meaningful, even sacred place. The experience of nature unfolds there in different ways by spending time: wandering, sitting, listening, drawing, photographing, swimming, berry picking, and mushroom picking. The exhibition delves into Estonian jewelry history, mythology, and the relationship with nature. The jewelry pieces convey the artists' experiences, observations, and dreams, traditions, and ancient knowledge. The relationship with the forest is very similar for Finns and Estonians, and exhibition visitors will surely find common ground with their own thoughts about nature and the forest.
