Heikki Mäki-Tuuri – One of a Kind

Heikki Mäki-Tuuri, born in Tuuri, is a color painter who developed his original expressionism already in the 1970s, before the style became fashionable here.

Mäki-Tuuri's paintings are large visula narratives characterized by exaggeration and contrasts. He is a mystifier of the rural life and the environment. His works combine the past, present and global news. Although Mäki-Tuuri often works with local topics, the message of his pictures is broader, universal.

All the works in the exhibition are new, painted in 2024.

Heikki Mäki-Tuuri (b. Tuuri 1947) studied at the Kankaanpää Art School (1966–68) and the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts (1968–72). He has had solo exhibitions at K. H. Renlund, Lapua, Oulu and Rauma art museums, as well as at the Nelimarkka Museum in Alajärvi. His works have been included in international touring and group exhibitions in the Nordic countries, Germany, Russia, Canada, the USA, and other countries. Mäki-Tuuri’s works are included in the collections of K. H. Renlund, Ostrobothnia and Wäinö Aaltonen museums, as well as several Finnish cities, municipalities and companies.
