Teemu Mäki - Portraits and Politics
Kajaani Art Museum, Kajaani
- 5.6.2025–14.9.2025
Teemu Mäki’s exhibition is comprised of portraits and allegorical paintings.
The portraits are based on visual perceptions of real persons and their interpretations. The allegories are metaphorical representations and statements on philosophical and political subjects. Some of the themes included in the exhibition are the wars in Chechnya, Iraq and Ukraine in the recent decades, as well as the Holocene extinction, and the relationship of humanity and individuals with nature and their own mortality.
Teemu Mäki (b.1967, Lapua) is a visual artist, writer, theatre and film director, researcher, and Chair of the Artists’ Association of Finland. The exhibition in Kajaani Art Museum is focused on his paintings, but since many of his works are multidisciplinary, there are many other types of works as well.
