Artist Talk Katharina Lehmann and Yasin Sarfraz

Katharina Lehmann creates fabric from yarn and acrylic paint by walking in zigzag paths across the floor plan of her studio. This unique method produces material that forms the basis of all her artworks. Lehmann’s pieces transport viewers into a realm where delicate patterns merge with profound societal questions, blending natural and primordial elements with industrial influences.

During their one-month stay at Villa Nelimarkka, both Katharina Lehmann and her partner, Yasin Sarfraz–who captures large-scale expressive moments–created new works inspired by the villa’s unique lighting conditions, shades, and distinctive colors in the South Ostrobothnian landscape. The Villa Nelimarkka’s secluded setting, away from urban distractions, offered the perfect environment for deep immersion and focused creation.
