Vilma Jää is a singer, composer, and violinist, and someone who uses her music for social activism. She merges folk music with fresh pop.

Vilma Jää combines centuries-old stories with electronic music. Bringing folk to the mainstream, her music moves between acoustic and electronic sounds, combining typical folk music instruments, such as kantele, pump organ and violin, with synthesised beats – the Finno-Ugric song tradition flirting with pop aesthetics. In her music with a feminist edge, Vilma Jää approaches today’s topics through history. This reveals to the listener how there has been regrettably little change in the world in a variety of issues that affect women.
