This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the artist professor Wilho Sjöström, one of Finland's most famous painters and influential figures in the art world during his lifetime.
Wilho Sjöström is particularly well known as a prolific portrait and landscape painter and was a key figure in the field of early Finnish modernism in the 1910s. Sjöström also had a long influence in Central Finland. To mark his centenary year, the Jyväskylä Art Museum is putting together a unique exhibition of works, mainly from a private collection in Central Finland.
