Gravel, wood and iron. Those were the raw materials use by navvies to build the railway network. How was their everyday life in reality?
In the spring of 2022, the station building of the Finnish Railway Museum will be occupied by Finnish railway builders. The Railway Navvies exhibition tells about the relentless hard work of the railway builders and features historical photographs and stories from railway construction sites all over Finland.
The exhibition is based on the dissertation of Kalle Kallio, director of the Finnish Labour Museum Werstas. The dissertation will be published by SKS Kirjat in the spring. The exhibition is a joint cooperation with the Finnish Labour Museum Werstas and will be opened at the same time in both museums.
