Elias Ilkka´s workroom
The Ilkka studio will display the museum collection of Elias Ilkka's study.
The last private owner of Voipaala was the sculptor Elias Ilkka.
Elias Ilkka (1889 - 1968). After his artstudies in Helsinki, Ilkka became a student and assistant to sculptor Emil Wikström in Visavuori (6 km from Voipaala). He then headed to France, Italy and the US.
Elias Ilkka became the owner and farmer of the manor, when he married Helvi Voipaala, the daughter of the Voipaala manor in 1941.
Ilkka's last work was the Sääksi sculpture commissioned by the municipality of Sääksmäki. In order to process the work, the old grain storage building at Voipaala Manor was converted into his workspace in the late 1950s. Today the Ilkka studio is open on summer and the tools belonging to the artist for working wood, ceramics and plaster can still be seen. Ilkka's two sculptures situates in the yard of Voipaala.
