This lecture examines the interior and exterior designs of a house.

 

Maija Mäkikalli, Docent in History of Design and Applied Arts and Julia Donner PhD, Teacher in History of Landscape Architecture talk about their research for the Poetic Reality exhibition.

Maija Mäkikalli has done research on interior design from the 1920s–1940s. How did the design ideals of the time develop, and can these be seen in Villa Gyllenberg’s interiors?

Julia Donner has done research on Villa Gyllenberg’s garden and the work of Paul Olsson, who designed it. Do the garden trends of the time show in Villa Gyllenberg’s garden, and how much of Olsson’s original design is there still left in it?

The lecture is in Finnish.
