Monikulttuurikalenteri2026: Gondyr Lab

Gondyr Lab is a 90-minute journey into hands-on storytelling. Participants explore stories through dark, tactile material. We begin by making a pile of our own play-dough mass. Participants spark stories and share emerging images. The outcome echoes in a final physical exploration, as we move in a simple space and unfold the gained experience through bodies and time. Gondyr Lab offers an approach to creativity in a practical and personal way. Ways of being verbal and non-verbal.

The art workshop is free and will be held on September 20 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM and from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Oulu Art Museum. The workshop is suitable for participants over 15 years old. There is room for 10 participants. Registration takes place at the art museum on the day of the workshop, and participants are accepted in the order of registration.

The workshop is held by Olga Prokhorova, a performance artist based in Oulu. In her art, she delves into the concept of place and works through the study of the body, movement, and behaviour, creating phenomena – alternative situations that people can observe and participate in.

Olga explores how storytelling and a mythological way of thinking about oneself and others affect our communication, how the body can offer new perspectives and allow a personal story to enter the world.
