Art Room

For autumn 2026 the renowned University of Helsinki Art Room has relocated temporarily to Helsinki University Museum Flame’s exhibition centre. Visitors are welcome to come and discover more about academic art teaching, whose roots at the Royal Academy of Turku in Finland stretch back to the 18th century.

The exhibition brings together a selection from the Art Room’s plaster cast collection alongside fascinating examples of work by artists who trained there. On display are works ranging from what has been called the Golden Age of Finnish art through to the present day, including pieces by the Art Room’s current teacher, drawing master Vappu Rossi.

Visitors also have the chance to try drawing for themselves. Sketching the plaster casts is included in the price of Museum admission. Feel free to bring your own drawing materials or borrow some on site. For further information, please speak with staff at the Museum’s ticket desk.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 16 September to 12 December 2026.

Address: Fabianinkatu 33, Helsinki. Once inside, you will find the Museum entrance on your immediate left. When the building’s main doors are closed on Saturdays, entry is via the archway at Yliopistonkatu 2.
