Siida is your guide to Sámi culture and northern nature.
The Sámi Museum and Nature Centre Siida is located in the town of Inari, in the Sámi Homeland.
The Sámi Museum preserves and presents the spiritual and material heritage of the Finnish Sámi in its collections and exhibitions.
Our exhibitions show how nature and people have adapted to the extreme conditions of the Northern environment side by side.
Temporary exhibitions on cultural history, nature and art.
The open-air museum presents typical dwellings of the Sámi fishermen and the nomadic Sámi, as well as hunting methods and reindeer husbandry.
Sámi Museum has regional unit in Sevettijärvi where the Sámi Museum maintains the Skolt Sámi Heritage House.
The Siida building that opened in 1998 will be renovated and expanded 2020 – 2022, with the new parts housing the Sámi Museum Collections Unit and the restaurant. The joint permanent exhibition of the Sámi Museum and Northern Lapland Nature Centre will be renewed. We will remain open throughout the renewal. The larger, renovated Siida and the new exhibition will open in April 2022.
