From poetry to movement

Helsinki City Museum, Helsinki

  • 25.2.2024 (14.00–15.00)

How does poetry create movement and movement create poetry?

At the event, Sports Counsellor Eevi Kaasinen will talk about how she has combined poetry and movement in competitions. The museum will also show videos of old competitions, and there will be an on-site performance in which Riitta Ahlsten will move to the rhythm of Eevi Kaasinen’s poems, recited by Petra Kaasinen.

The event will be held in Finnish, and admission is free. The event is part of the exhibition programme of the Your Body – The Sweaty History of Gyms exhibition.

Eevi Kaasinen is a gymnastics teacher, sports counsellor, choreographer, and reciter. She has guided and coached gymnasts from amateurs to the championship level.

Petra Kaasinen is a cultural director who has always been passionate about the arts, recitation and sports.

Riitta Ahlsten is a sports instructor, dance teacher and dance therapist. The formerly very active fitness enthusiast remains an avid exercise enthusiast.
