Europe Refuses to Work
The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas, Tampere
- 9.9.2023–3.3.2024
The exhibition tells the stories of people who have committed themselves to the fight for freer work – against the wage labour
society.
The interviews, essays and photographs featured in the exhibition explore the forms and reasons for refusing to work, as told by various Europeans. At the exhibition, we meet capitalistcritical theorists, community farmers, employees of a seized soap factory, and cleaning industry activists.
The exhibition is organised by a working group that includes Henri Salonen, Ilona Raivio, Klaus Maunuksela, Lasse Poser, and Pontus Purokuru.
The project has been funded by the Kone Foundation, the Central Association of Finnish Photographic Organisations (Finnfoto), the Olga and Vilho Linnamo Foundation, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike), and the Finnish Foundation for Media and Development (Vikes).
