The Rune Singer's House

Parppeinvaara poem village, Ilomantsi

  • 1.6.2012–31.12.2023

The Rune Singer's House was built in 1964 to commemorate the bards and the Karelian architecture. The architect of the House was Aulis Kalma. The Rune Singer's House was he first post-war building to be constructed in the traditional Karelian style in Finland.

Inside the Rune Singer's House you will find a main room of the Karelian house with an exhibition of local Karelian traditions. The exhibition lightens the history of the Kantele and also includes a large collection of the Kalevala epic in different languages.
