“Flores multi, radix una” There are many flowers but one is big.

I am very pleased to have the opportunity to present a new series of paintings on the theme “Flores multi, radix una” at the Museum- gallery Alariesto.

At the time of my first art exhibitions in Paris in the late nineties, I visited Finnish Lapland for the first time. Little did I know that my then host, a Finn from Rovaniemi to whom I am still married, would become my husband and that Lapland would offer international me a unique feeling: roots. It started the first time I was in a Kittilä swamp: the smells, the silence, the intensity of colours brought an unknown feeling of inner peace and deep connection to this environment after having lived in many countries in the world, capital-cities essentially, after having learned 10 languages and cultures, I had found my place on earth: a place where I felt I could attach and grow branches and flowers.

The title of my exhibition refers to this overwhelming feeling and how living in Finland enabled me to explore my personal multicultural diversity through Lappish traditions and seasons.
By doing so, I also revive some of my husband’s family heritage.
