In his works, Andreas Alariesto (1900-1989) describes the history of the Sompio region, from the Forest Sámi culture to the culture of the Reindeer Sámi people who moved to the area.
Based on decades of experience, Alarieston is an absolute connoisseur of Lapland's villages and people's lives. He had no other education. Everything depended on one's own creative ability and traditional knowledge recorded in memory. This was sufficient. The result was a great national artistic production.
