Sandra Kantanen: Smokeworks

Sandra Kantanen works with landscape and visual questions concerning the nature of photography by combining various techniques of photography and painting.
The series called Smokeworks was photographed in the forests near Kantanen’s home in Hanko. The landscapes were staged with smokebombs. After the Russian occupation bombs are still found today around the peninsula. This war history is part of the memory carried by the trees and the landscape.
This exhibition is supported by the Finnish Heritage Agency.
