7. Monthly payment
7.1. What does monthly payment for a Museum Card mean and how does it work?
Monthly
payment is a new way to buy a Museum Card where a monthly payment is charged from your payment card once a month for 12 months.
You buy the card for a year, which means it is a 12-month agreement that you commit to when opting for the monthly payment method.
The monthly payment for the Museum Card in 2026 is €7.45, which totals €89.40 for the whole year. You can choose the monthly payment method to buy a new card or to extend the validity of your existing card (NB. does not apply to Museum Cards bought as a gift).
The first monthly payment will be charged to your payment card when you buy the Museum Card. The remaining 11 payments will be charged once amonth. You can check upcoming monthly payments on the My Museum Card website by going to Profile -> Monthly payments.
The monthly payment method is available only when you buy in the online store or using the Museum Card app. Please note that the monthly payment option is not available at museums.
When paying for a new card, the monthly payment will be charged for 12 months from the date of purchase. However, the validity of a new Museum Card begins with the first museum visit.

7.2. How much
does it cost to buy a Museum Card with monthly payment?

7.3. Where can I buy a Museum Card with monthly payment?
You can use
the monthly payment method to buy a new Museum Card or to extend the validity
of your existing card (NB. does not apply to Museum Cards bought as a gift). The
monthly payment method is available only for purchases in the online store or
using the Museum Card app. Please note that the monthly payment option is not
available at museums and nor can cultural benefits be used to make monthly
payments.
7.4. Automatic
debit failed - what should I do now?
Buyers of
the Museum Card using the monthly payment method will be notified by email if
automatic debit fails. This can happen if the payment card expires or there are
insufficient funds on the card. You can find case-specific instructions in the
frequently asked questions section, under "Monthly payment for the Museum
Card."
7.5. What if
my payment card expires during the agreement period?
If the monthly debit fails, you will immediately receive an email notification. This will happen, for example, if your payment card expires during the agreement period.
You can update your payment card details on the My Museum Card website. Use your credentials to log in and go to Profile -> Update payment details. Enter your new payment card details in the fields and your payment card will be saved. The remaining monthly payments will be charged to your payment card once a month.
7.6. What if there are insufficient funds on my payment card on the debit date?
If the monthly debit fails, you will immediately receive an email notification. This will happen, for example, if there are insufficient funds on your payment card on the debit date.
Once there
are again sufficient funds on your payment card, log in to the My Museum Card
website and go to Profile and Monthly payments. Select Pay now.
7.7. What if
I want to discontinue monthly payments?
The payment agreement is for 12 months and therefore cannot be cancelled. You can find more details in the terms and conditions of use.
7.8. What if
I don’t make the monthly payments?
The agreement for a Museum Card purchased with a monthly payment is fixed term (12 months) and cannot be terminated during the agreement period.
If monthly payment fails and the customer does not follow the instructions in the payment reminders, the service provider has the right to block the customer's Museum Card and charge the outstanding amounts and the remaining 12 monthly payments in a single payment. The service provider may also transfer the total outstanding amount to a debt collection agency.
