Taipale canal park area there are the Canal museum with a cafe, over 170 year old stone canal and the working Taipale canal with active waterbourne traffic.

Taipale Canal museum is located in Varkaus, at the Taipale Canal area. Taipale Canal is a deep channel canal alongside the Northern Savo water route. The bed and the stone structures of the old canal, Finland's first lock canal built by the state in 1840, are also located in the area

The basic exhibition of the Taipale Canal Museum, Via Canalia, tells about the history of canalization and the waterborne traffic in northern and central Savo. During the visit there is also a possibility to see the Taipale Canal area, the old canal and the working Taipale deep channel canal. The Taipale Canal museum and the café are open daily during summer months at 10 am to 6 pm. Visiting dock of Varkaus is also located at the canal area.
