Tuuli Sotamaa – Web of Life

The exhibition “Web of Life” by Tuuli Sotamaa now at Haltia - The Finnish Nature Centre.

“I have grown up surrounded by nature and have always been captivated by the authenticity and integrity, sensitivity, and strength of nature and animals. I have studied plants and observed animals. I have sat quietly and looked into the eyes of animals, seen reflected in them trust or the lack thereof, and absorbed their unspoken stories. In recent years, I have moved towards a tapestry that combines an understanding of the interconnectedness of nature, our environment, and human well-being.”

The works in Web of Life exhibition depict the species of Nuuksio, Finland and are part of a broader “Web of Life” series, which aims to illustrate life, animals, and organisms as well as their connections, one habitat at a time.

“In my art, reality and imagination merge seamlessly. Each piece possesses a sense of familiarity yet introduces something unprecedented. They embody a duality-quiet, delicate, and still, yet simultaneously dynamic, robust, and in motion. These works are intricate worlds, inviting viewers to pause and immerse themselves in the details. They are born from patience, devoid of haste, offering a sanctuary for reflection. I wish to guide people to the wonders of life, to see what often goes unnoticed. Welcome to the realm of details, to look closely, to see and discover moments from the web of life that surrounds us.”
