Inventarium – Catarina Ryppy

National Museum of Finland, Helsinki

  • 20.8.2021–12.12.2021

Det stora antalet ovanliga och konstiga freml fr beskaren att undra om historierna bakom dessa freml och konsumtion och vrt eget frhllande till freml.

Where do all our things go when we cease to exist? The feelings of alienation and being an outsider are central themes in the works of artist Catarina Ryppy. The artist has discovered and collected the items in the Inventarium exhibition over decades from various places such as flea markets around the world.

The abundance of unusual and strange items inspires you to think about their stories, consumption and our own relationship to objects. To whom did the abandoned toy cars and candy boxes belong? What did the photographs and plastic Jesus sculptures mean to their owners? Where do all our things go when we cease to exist? The items found in various countries are directly connected to the culture around them but the exhibition also gives them broader meaning and a connection to historical world events.
