The Commandant's house

Loviisa Museum, Loviisa

  • 30.10.2017–

In the main exhibition of Loviisa Town Museum, one can catch a glimpse of 18th and 19th century atmosphere

The main exhibition shows a variety of the museum's collections, including but not limited to Gustavian furniture, silver- and pewter collections and artefacts related to Loviisa's history as a sea town.

Guests can also get to know how composer Jean Sibelius spent his time in Loviisa as well as what the bustling life at the Loviisa bath house used to be like. The museum's kitchen has a variety of old cookbooks and kitchen appliances on display.

On the top floor, one can find the pewterer's workshop. The room displays a unique collection of tools and molds from 1757 to 1882, which were used by local pewterers.
