VL Myrsky II restoration project
Finnish Air Force Museum, Jyväskylä
- 1.7.2022–31.7.2022
The fuselage of a wartime fighter plane will be on display at the exhibition during July.
Myrsky-project is a joint project of the Aviation Museum Society Finland, the Finnish Air Force Museum and the Finnish Aviation Museum. Myrsky ("Storm") was the only Finnish mass-produced fighter jet designed at the State Aircraft Factory. The Finnish Air Force had a total of 51 Myrskys in use, none of which were spared the scrapping of the post-war period. The starting point for the restoration was the metal frame of the MY-14 and drawings, which were found in 1991. The restoration project started in 2013.
The restoration project has progressed to the final stages, and in 2023 it should be completed. In July, the project can be viewed up close as the unfinished plane is moved to the main exhibition.
