Illusion

The artists are pioneers of Finnish interactive art: Petri Eskelinen, Hanna Haaslahti, Markus Kåhre, Jaana Partanen, Pasi Rauhala, Heidi Tikka and Jarno Vesala.

Interactive and immersive art in particular creates an illusion for the viewer, an experience of being part of the universe of the work instead of viewing art traditionally from the outside. The viewer is immersed into the universe of the work, either literally or figuratively.

These works are the artists’ recent output from the past few years, both works created specifically for this exhibition and works from past decades that have become classics of interactive art. In some of the works, viewer participation is physical and active, in others, more subtle spatial and psychological insight.
