Courage, Freedom, Love! The Moomins 75

National Museum of Finland, Helsinki

  • 14.8.2020–14.3.2021

The National Museum is closed until the 30th of March 2021 due to the general coronavirus situation.

This new exhibition opening at the National Museum of Finland on 14 August is a magical journey into the values and philosophy of the Moomins.

It has already been 75 years since Tove Jansson created the Moomins, but the values espoused by the stories friendship, love, respect for nature, love of adventure, equality, tolerance, freedom and courage are still topical and meaningful today. This new exhibition opening at the National Museum of Finland on 14 August is a magical journey into the values and philosophy of the Moomins.

The Courage, Freedom, Love! exhibition gives visitors space to experience different emotions and ponder the meaning of the Moomin values to oneself and in society. The exhibition is at once nostalgic, comforting and delightful. Intended for all ages, as is the case with Tove Janssons books, the exhibition can be experienced and interpreted in many ways.

The National Museum of Finland is organising the Courage, Freedom, Love! exhibition in collaboration with Moomin Characters Oy Ltd. The exhibitions illustrations and quotations are based on the original works of Tove Jansson. The artistic realisation and exhibition architecture are designed by Alexander Reichstein.
